EMS Operations

The Operations Division protects life, property and the environment through the provision of high quality emergency and non – emergency medical services.  The Operations Division is composed of three (3) separate shifts of fourteen (14) highly trained personnel with a diverse skill set to meet the wide range of emergency and non – emergency medical demands within the Canyon Lake Fire / EMS service area.

Emergency Medical Services delivered by the Operations Division include but are not limited to:  
  • Emergency Medical Services
    • Treatment
    • Transport
    • Public Education
  Canyon Lake Fire / EMS provides Emergency Medical Services to 250 square miles of northeastern Comal County.  The department operates four (4) fully equipped Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulances and one (1) in reserve.  Each ambulance is staffed with a minimum of one (1) highly trained Paramedic who is equipped with state of the art equipment in order to assure the highest possible patient care.  In addition, Fire Suppression apparatus are also staffed with a minimum of one (1) highly trained Paramedic who is equipped with state of the art equipment in order to assure the highest possible patient care.     Canyon Lake Fire / EMS is highly involved with the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC) and participates in both the Heart Alert and Stroke Alert programs.   Canyon Lake Fire / EMS provides public education in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) and Fall Prevention.   Canyon Lake Fire / EMS is committed to the protection of private healthcare information and complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.
