Fire Operations

The Operations Division protects life, property and the environment through the provision of high quality emergency and non – emergency fire services.  The Operations Division is composed of three (3) separate shifts of fourteen (14) highly trained personnel with a diverse skill set to meet the wide range of emergency and non – emergency fire operations demands within the Canyon Lake Fire / EMS service area.

Fire Operations Services delivered by the Operations Division include but are not limited to:

  • Fire Prevention
  • Fire Suppression
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Technical Rescue
  • Hazardous Materials First Response
  • Public Education
  • Pre Incident Planning and Fire Hydrant Flow Testing

Canyon Lake Fire / EMS provides Fire Operations Services to 250 square miles of northeastern Comal County.  The department operates four (4) fully equipped Engines and one (1) in reserve, four (4) fully equipped Brush Trucks and two (2) in reserve and three (3) fully equipped Tenders and two (2) Squad Trucks.  These apparatus are staffed with highly trained Firefighters who are also certified in Emergency Medical Services as well.  

Canyon Lake Fire / EMS provides public education in Fire Prevention, Portable Fire Extinguisher use and Smoke Detectors.

Every six (6) months Canyon Lake Fire / EMS personnel conduct pre incident planning at commercial occupancies in the district to assure familiarization and documentation of hazards in addition to flow testing all fire hydrants in the district.
